Hey, Red_Baron here! Here is a miniguide for the new players! Written based on my humble expertise.

If you play as cavalry: *ALWAYS PICK SIDEARM*

- as a mostly cav team you should try to rush together isolated enemy units except poleaxes (when u can dismount to fight them)
- in a balanced team best thing is to support your units (archers specially) while trying to kill enemy captains
- in a mostly archers team specially as khergs you are gonna get fucked if cav rushed so prepare to sweat tryharding if you want to win.

As infantry: *NEVER USE THROWABLES*

-in a mostly cav team you should focus on damage (2 handers and pikes) to support cavalry on their rushes and suicide charges.
- in a mostly archer team a sword and good shield is recommended to soak enemy arrows while your archers shoot, also a 2h build with shield is good Vs cavalry spam team.
-in a infantry Vs infantry situation go for damage (2h and poleaxes)

As archer: *ALWAYS PICK SIDEARM*

- in mostly cav team you can bait enemy units to isolate themselves so cavalry can flank charge, also you should react to your teammates movements and take advantage of their rushes to get closer to enemy and make more damage.

- In mostly infantry, you should follow your inf closely trying to always get the flank of the enemy acknowledging always enemy cav.

- in mostly archer army, you can use shields to soak enemy arrows and bait inf so your allies can shoot their flanks or be the one doing damage. Never isolate yourself and try to shoot enemy captains assassin's.

CAVALRY GUIDE

1) Being faster than infantry and archers u can choose when to fight and when not to fight.

"He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight".

When to fight:

 - enemy cavalry if you are stronger. its usually your first combat in battle.

 - enemy horse archers. easy.

 - your archers are retreating from infantry on open ground. save them and retreat.

 - your horse archers are running away from enemy cavalry. protect them.

 - enemy archers (except nord) or trash infantry in sparse formation.

 - your infantry fights and will likely win. support them.

When not to fight.

 - never fight on complicated ground (hills, ruins, rivers, fences, dense forests and stone fields, close to walls and houses).

 - enemy has 2handed weapon. its job for infantry and archers, not for u.

 - enemy cavalry is stronger. retreat and hide behind your infantry.

 - u are only or last cavalry in team. u will have to fight, but try to survive and save some of your bots.

 - your teammates suicide. let them do it.

 - your teammates are losing. let them die and retreat, saving your squad. sad but true.

 - its too crowded there. wait until enemy formation becomes more sparse and riderless horses disappear.

2) Be patient.

Really, nobody forces u to die in suicidal charge in 1st mitute of a round.

U can wait so much as u want. If there is no good chance to attack, may be it will appear in next second, next minute or in end of round.

Its good if u work like a bee on whole map helping teammates and exterminating enemies.

But its also okay if u just look how your teammates suicide and do nothing, waiting for flag or good chance to attack. Its okay.

3) Equipment.

Lancers are hard to use as bots, but lancers are the best reserve for dead players.

1handed weapon + 3 shields (yes, u will probably need them) is more universal option. Its the strongest unit in game (may be not 1vs1 but for teamwork). I usually press f2 f4 twice because this type of cavalry beats others in dense formation.

Heavy horses are more important against infantry and archers.

Heavy armor is more important against cavalry.

Light horses can be used against horse archers and if u need to retreat from cavalry.

4) Spawning.

If all cavalry spawns in same time, they can get stuck and have the same horses.

Never stay on spawn with your cavalry squad.

Also u can spawn a bit later, choosing equipment for that, The latest time is 9:00.

5) Be initiative.

While infantry works better together, cavalry has many things to do on battlefield. Its okay if cavalry squads ride alone, gathering to do hard job. If all teammates fight, u can wait in reserve, if all wait, u can try to kill enemy commanders, if all attack from this flank, u can attack from another.

Cavalry is the best class for teamwork and thats why it is so strong. Cavalry can lose 1vs1 but having some cavalry, especially in end of round, is always better than having no. Help your teammates and use their help.

 

HORSE ARCHERS GUIDE

 - Run-and-hit. Run is more important than hit!

 - Survive. Bots are extremely stupid without your commands, they will suicide just after u die.

 - Dont hurry. Its okay if u start shooting in middle of a round when all enemy cavalry is gone.

 - Use falchions, they have 38dmg, and good armor. Swadian (can be good against infantry) and vaegir (they already have best cavalry and archers, so why?) horse archers can take shields if melee fight is expected.

 - Dismounting is usually bad idea. Depends on what units both teams have.

When enemy has much cavalry:

 - Focus on armor and support your cavalry in fight against enemy cavalry. Its also good idea to switch to cavalry class if your team has too many archers and loses.

When enemy has few cavalry:

 - Avoid enemy cavalry. Your cavalry and infantry should fight it. Be careful while enemy still has some cavalry.

Fighting lancers:

 - Stand closer (f2 f4 twice), spoil their first strike with bad ground or weird moving, and always hold down block.

Fighting shield cavalry:

 - U will likely lose.

Fighting infantry:

 - When infantry comes close, order hold fire (f3 f1) and retreat to safe distanse, then allow fire (f3 f2). If u dont do it, bots will retreat too slowly. Repeat many times.

Fighting archers:

 - Spread out and take position on their flank. If they have better bows, but bad melee weapon (not 2h axes!), and stay on open ground, u can attack them with swords.
