What should the perfect siege map contain? (+ some tips to make a siege map)

The way I look at it and I think Chivs has a similar view. That is, each one has its pros and cons. Play the challenges of each map. I highly doubt if there can be a map made that is going to please everyone!! Its the combined effort of all those that take the time to make the maps for us to play on.
Yep! Exactly right, Draco. A map should be challenging; if it doesn't seem challenging, figure out some way where it can be. It's exactly like playing a soccer team against yours that is horribly bad; no fun because it's not challenging. And on the flip side, playing a World Cup team against the horribly bad team; again, no challenge therefore no fun. When I finally installed the NeoGK mod and used what it has to offer, every map I was playing became a "new" experience and I'm still "inventing" myself as a player challenging myself using the Siege weapons I didn't use before or using the ones I have, but using them different than as I did.

The map makers and maps get so much grief I’m wondering if people have considered what they want?
There are a some factors that contribute to players grieving over this map or that map: When players lack teamwork and don't perform the "simple" things, such as putting down ladders, keeping doors closed....; players not utilizing all the ways (entry points) in attacking the map and defending (covering) the entry points of the map; and since the NeoGK mod is a part of our maps, failing to use the NeoGK props and weapons can make a HUGE difference (after all, these are added or taken away to achieve better balance for the map). And lastly but probably not exclusively, in the sense of maps of the Siege Server, players ignoring the flag either not moving toward it or paying reasonable attention to it like calling (only a handful of players do this essential thing) in chat the status of the flag.
These are just some things I have noticed since playing and I will honestly say, there are only a few maps I won't play and it may very well be that these maps may not be bad, it's just that the attacking team utilizes the map better than the defending team and vice versa.

and about maps
some maps works good with a lots of people
and some with less people
maybe it's a good idea to make map ordering based on the amount of people
maybe just a small tweek, minas tirith is great but not at 6 am
but it's a very small thing it's not a problem we could use a poll, so its just a thought

maybe some democratic poll once a month ?
users with more than a year on forum vote 1-2 maps to remove for a while or replace for other map ?

It's almost impossible fix the time when a specific map will be started in server. Server has +60 maps constantly in rotation, which take ~25 hours to reach the end and start from beginning again, but for example, when server crashes and it is restarted again, all maps that were played at certain hours lately because this rotation order, will be changed in time and will be played at different hours than when they were played.
So as you said, the poll system is the only way to change a map which don't match properly with number of players in server.

Hi, as far as I know, a siege ram isn't part of the list of engines that are supposed to be added to the map by a map creator himself in advance (unlike the ballistas, towers, etc.). When you make the map submitting, simply add a note that it could be nice to have one in your map. If your map is good enough and it's about to be added to the rotation, the siege ram can be added subsequently; probably by @KingArthur. Good luck with your map.
