Today, I have a post for you from twitter of the M&B team. They are answering a question from a follower on their twitter. Sad news about the possibility of Bannerlord this year.
@Mount_and_Blade - Do you still plan for it to come out this year? Or has that slipped?
"@HeadClot88 Earlier this year, we had hoped to put it in players hands in some form (beta/EA/testing). That looks less likely now.

Some "new" infos, confirmations of rumored features and screenshots have emerged.
https://www.youtube....h?v=vO81g-w1PqQ
https://www.youtube....h?v=N9GmciX7_v8
Here is a brief summary of those two videos since neither of them comprise a new video footage anyway.
– Release date: "TaleWorlds still intends and hopes for 2017 release yet the editors of GameStar from their playing of Bannerlord and seeing it in its current state fear and believe that the shift of the release into 2018 is very possible and likely."
– If you are about to attend the E3, than you will be able to play the demo yourself no matter if you are a journalist or not.
– Custom battles, sieges etc. will be included.
– No co-op mode (although TaleWorlds has said it could be implemented through the module-like system of Bannerlord by players themselves).
– Currently, no invasion mode.
– Mod support via the Steam Workshop.
– Battle sizes: up to 1000 men. They currently have battles running stably with 500 men, although the engine has support for up to 1000 men. Massive.
– Realistic physics. Mainly for charging, towers crumbling, weapons dropping and so on.
– Single player map is supposed to be four times larger than Caldaria—which is the map in Warband.
– Four seasons changing repeatedly. Have a look at those last four screenshots below.
– You will be able to build your own castle.
Four seasons.
E3 should provide some ultimate answers to all those delicate questions like the release date etc.

New (brief and vague) information about multiplayer has emerged today.
Will we still be able to choose what server we join, or will it be picked for us?
- We will still have the server list, just like we have in Warband. It will contain both official and unofficial (community-run) servers. On top of that, there is also a matchmaking system which ties in nicely with our more competitive game modes (see question below).
What kind of game modes can we expect?
- Siege (<3) has received a full overhaul. It is still all about attacking and defending an entire castle, but now with a full range of different kinds of siege weapons (ballistae, catapults, siege towers and battering rams).
- Then, there are some game modes that are entirely new, such as Captain Battle: a team-based mode where each player gets command over a regiment of AI troops (just like in singleplayer). You win by either eliminating the other team, or by controlling the battlefield.
- There is also Skirmish Battle, a more competitive game mode that is designed to be played 6 vs 6. You have multiple lives per round, but each troop has a different cost, which means you have to make a choice between fielding a greater number of poorly equipped troops or fewer more specialised ones. Good communication and managing your lives are key in this mode.
- We also have a Duel Mode for those who want to test their skills in a more controlled environment.
Well, old is new, new is old. Is Dwarf working for TaleWorlds now? Not sure about the Skirmish Battle and Captain Battle, though.

- No release date.

@Davis I surmise that that's the way how combat will be handled in Bannerlord…
Warband is basically an arcade game with linear combat system. All the swing animations are more or less linear in terms of movement; there is no big difference between beginning and end of a swing. It's fluent, but it's not very realistic. This might be slightly different in Bannerlord, I'm afraid.
Even if TaleWorlds is constantly mentioning "physics-based" in its blogs, the weapons movements should still be more or less pre-animated; "physics-based" should apply rather to damage calculation and adjustment of weapon movement based on its characteristics. Difference between Warband and Bannerlord should be that weapons animations in Bannerlord should incorporate some aspects of classical mechanics in terms of motion of objects. As a result, the swings movements should be rather non-linear, thus not as fluent as in Warband. It's like in real life. You need to release some force (which takes time) to move an object, and you need to release some force to stop it; while, in the meantime, the object is moving by itself because of inertia… or something like that. Warband really doesn't take this into account.
Or 8:42 in this video:
Blogs further discussing combat system and weapons movement:
Obviously, I haven't had the chance to play Bannerlord yet, so all of this is rather a speculation or a guess of mine based on what I see and on their blogs—I may be wrong. Still, I prefer the way how Warband handles the combat system to the ways how Chivalry or Kingdome Come handle their combat systems since more "realistic" doesn't always mean more entertaining.

movements are looking clumsy
that's exactly what i ment with it...i also do get what you mean Lenna. And i really endorse and look forward to a more realistic weapon handling with factors like speed, force etc. (like it is in warband mainly with speed).
but what i tried to say is, that if you look at the persons moving around...it really looks very "clumsy" looks like static objects linear moving around with perfectly animated arms/swing actions. i bet 2018 wont be the release tbh... and i want a really solid release!

Uncanny Valley is about to take its place in Bannerlord . This wasn't a thing in Warband when one thought about character's movements.
this gif only shows that they still have a lot of work to do... at least 1 year of waiting
That GIF was posted on their blog in December 2017, but it's not certain when the GIF was actually created. Guessing a release date upon its publication is tricky. This can be applied to every video or animation already posted on their blog. Proclamations like these:
„Until now, we mainly worked on the tactics of formations and armies, but not the tactics on 1v1 fights. I believe that we will add some variety on that only after we feel like the AI is good enough and missing only unique tactics. So far the AI has been buffed with improved ranged and melee accuracy, decision to use kicking, keeping distance according to combat states and so on. In the end, our aim is to expand the range of intelligence of AI in order to help new players more in combat, and create more challenge for the experienced players.“ (Cem Çimenbiçer, TaleWorlds.com, December 2017)
are what may cause the general skepticism.
